WHAT IS CROSSFIT?
CrossFit is a fun, safe, community-centered group training program that is designed to help you be the best version of yourself! CrossFit is highly effective and is enjoyed by everyone from members of the armed forces to soccer moms and dads, from professional athletes to retirees, and everyone in between!
Classes only take an hour and include a warm up, personalized movement instruction, and an awesomely intense workout. CrossFit workouts are scaled to your fitness level, target the entire body and are primarily geared towards functional fitness. The workouts change every day so you will never get bored!
WHAT KIND OF RESULTS WILL I GET?
We are here to help you enjoy your life to the fullest! The workouts are challenging and are designed to help you move and feel better so that every aspect of your life outside of the gym will be improved.
The daily workouts will improve your cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, even though we don’t do typical “cardio.” You’ll gain strength and power and flexibility. You’ll notice improvements in your coordination, balance and agility. We work very hard. However, the benefits aren’t just physical! With regular exercise, your sleep, mood, and general sense of well-being will improve as well.
Usually, you’ll start looking and feeling better within a few weeks. Stick with it and you’ll really see the benefits. Seriously. Just ask our any of our awesome members.

At CrossFit Discovery, we’re focused on functional fitness that’s applicable to real life. That means feeling better and being better at the things you love to do.
ANYONE can do CrossFit! We meet you at your current level of fitness no matter where that happens to be. But it is challenging and not everyone’s cup of tea.
I’M NERVOUS. AM I GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS?
Don’t worry! Every CrossFit gym has a different culture. The Discovery community is supportive, unintimidating, and welcoming to newcomers. All of our members have experienced what it’s like to be at the beginning of a fitness journey, and are happy to support you and cheer you on wherever you are.
Most importantly, our focus on form and mechanics means you’ll stay safe. We’ll encourage you, but we won’t push you too far, too fast. With great trainers and thoughtful workout programming, CrossFit is beneficial for just about anyone. All you need is the right attitude and an open mind.
Commit, be accountable, create new habits. The rest will follow.
OK, I’M GAME! HOW DO I START?
The first step is signing up for one of our free trial sessions. This gives us a chance to get to know each other, learn about your fitness goals, and come up with a great personalized program.
The next step is our Kickstart program. We start you off right with a carefully crafted curriculum of Personal Training. Our expert coaches are ready to guide you along your fitness journey at your own pace.

WHAT IS THE KICKSTART PROGRAM?
It’s our special introductory program to prepare you for success training with us. You will learn the new skills, how to use the equipment and basic self care from your own expert coach. It’s a great way to learn the movements, feel confident, and get to know our community before either starting group class or continuing with personal training.
If you’re new to CrossFit, you must at least 6 Kickstart Personal Training Sessions before joining group classes.
WAIT, I HAVE AN INJURY. IS CROSSFIT SAFE FOR ME?
Tell us where it hurts. We’re experienced at making adjustments that allow just about everyone to participate. We’ve helped many clients work around nagging old injuries. Just make sure to fully disclose your concerns before class and remind any coaches that you haven’t worked with yet.
WOD…PR…METABOLIC CONDITIONING…WHAT’S WITH ALL THE LINGO?
Don’t worry, we’ll teach you what you need to know. For starters, WOD is an abbreviation for workout of the day. What that means is we mix things up, so you’ll do something different every day. It keeps you motivated, and you won’t get bored.
ARE ALL CLASSES STRUCTURED?
Yes. This is not your average gym. Think of it more like small group personal training. Every class is led through warmup, mobility, skill training, and the workout of the day (WOD) by an experienced instructor. With proper instruction, you’ll see improvement. You’ll move better, both inside the gym and in your everyday life.
HOW LONG IS A TYPICAL CLASS?
Classes are 1 hour, including warm up, mobility, WOD (workout of the day) and cool down.
IS THERE AN INITIATION FEE? OR A LONG-TERM CONTRACT?
No and no. Memberships are monthly and billed on the 1st.
Completing the Kickstart is essential to starting at Discovery. After that, all memberships are month to month. We are confident that you will love working out with us and don’t see the need to lock you in with long-term contracts.
We are happy to upgrade, downgrade or cancel your account with a minimum of 7 days notice submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. No other communication channels (including verbal communication, social media, or sms texting) are a valid form of requesting cancellation. If notice is given less than 7 days prior to the date of the next transaction, you will be billed for the next monthly payment.

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
You won’t find fancy machines or elliptical trainers or mirrors at our gym. You will find pull up bars, gymnastics rings, barbells, tires, kettle bells, climbing ropes, and medicine balls, among other toys. We’ll teach you how to use them all.
We believe that’s part of what sets CrossFit apart. Machines operate in a static plane – which is not the way the body moves in real life. Machines rob you of properly developing the smaller stabilizing muscles. Our training methods allow your body to move as it’s supposed to and develop stability and true strength.

I’M IN REALLY GREAT SHAPE. CAN I JUST JUMP INTO REGULAR CLASSES?
Not quite yet. We’ll still need you to sign up for the free initial consultation. During that meeting, we will evaluate your level of fitness and make sure you understand the movements. As your safety and long term success is our primary goal, we’ve found this approach to be the most beneficial for everyone.

DO YOU HAVE A CHILDCARE?
Childcare is do-it-yourself here. We have a lounge area where they can play, but it is up to you to supervise your children.
